Medlock Ames is an estate fine wine producer located in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California. Started in 1998 by friends Chris James and Ames Morison, they consider their commitment to quality, through mindful and organic farming, to be one of their greatest assets. With Ames at the helm as the winemaker, the vineyards are farmed organically with no insecticides, chemical fertilizers or herbicides. Solar power provides the energy needed to run. Only 55 of Medlock Ames’ 338 acres are farmed; the majority of land has been deliberately left in a natural state – leaving much of their acreage for oaks and wildflowers, not vines.
We had the most lovely time pairing their wines with thoughtfully selected cheeses. Our hostess, Isabella, was gracious, knowledgable, and incredibly friendly. The setting is very relaxed and stylish. Definitely recommend.

Medlock Ames is one of my favorite wineries to visit in the Alexander Valley. One of the reasons is because the view from the back of the winery is just stunning! Vineyards as far as the eyes can see. They have a back deck and also tables inside a small grove of trees where you can see the spectacular view. They have an organic garden where they grow all kinds of berries and vegetables and herbs. Anyone can pick the berries and strawberry picking is one of my daughter’s favorite activities to do there. The wine is very solid. I love their Sauvignon Blanc which is crisp and acidic. The Rosé is lovely-it’s made with Merlot grapes and the taste has strawberries, vanilla and spice. Their Merlot based Estate Red is also super yummy with hints of vanilla and oak. I really like to go here and get a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc and sit outside and soak in the beautiful views!
