Medlock Ames
Overview
Medlock Ames Winery was formed in 1998 by college best friends, Ames Morison and Chris Medlock James, whose passion for wine inspired them to leave their New York City apartment and move across the country to produce award-winning wines from Sonoma’s Bell Mountain Ranch. The winery holds a deep commitment to preserving Bell Mountain and its surrounding areas; winemaker Ames Morison is a vocal supporter of organic, light-touch agricultural practices and gentle winemaking techniques for his wines that reflect the purest representations of the terroir. Today, Medlock Ames produces several wines primarily from Bordelaise grapes that balance the old and new world in both style and technique.
Testimonials
We had the most lovely time pairing their wines with thoughtfully selected cheeses. Our hostess, Isabella, was gracious, knowledgable, and incredibly friendly. The setting is very relaxed and stylish. Definitely recommend.

Medlock Ames is one of my favorite wineries to visit in the Alexander Valley. One of the reasons is because the view from the back of the winery is just stunning! Vineyards as far as the eyes can see. They have a back deck and also tables inside a small grove of trees where you can see the spectacular view. They have an organic garden where they grow all kinds of berries and vegetables and herbs. Anyone can pick the berries and strawberry picking is one of my daughter’s favorite activities to do there. The wine is very solid. I love their Sauvignon Blanc which is crisp and acidic. The Rosé is lovely-it’s made with Merlot grapes and the taste has strawberries, vanilla and spice. Their Merlot based Estate Red is also super yummy with hints of vanilla and oak. I really like to go here and get a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc and sit outside and soak in the beautiful views!
